While falling birthrates and rising competition have reduced the pool of potential students, independent schools doubled-down with expanding programs and facilities that drove costs higher. Most schools have seriously overpriced themselves and created an unsustainable financial aid discounting structure to hide the fact that fewer and fewer customers are willing and able to purchase the product.
